Blake Lively has signed on to star in and produce Lady Killer for Netflix, a live action adaptation of the Dark Horse Comics book of the same name. Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody is set to write the film.
Lively will play Josie Schuller, the perfect 1950’s housewife by day and highly-trained killer for hire by night. Josie really likes the second job, but her husband has no idea about her secret life.
Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment will be co-producers, along with Lively and Kate Vorhoff for B for Effort.
Lively seems to be enjoying an action turn in her career as of late, with prior entries including The Rhythm Section and The Shallows. Cody most recently scripted the upcoming Madonna biopic at Universal, which Madonna herself is slated to direct.
Lady Killer is a comic series written by Joelle Jones and Jamie S. Rich, illustrated by Jones, and colored by Laura Allred. It has been published by Dark Horse Comics since 2015 and was nominated for Best Limited Series at the Eisner Awards in 2016.
Netflix has an active first look deal with Dark Horse Entertainment, previously collaborating on the hit series Umbrella Academy and Polar, directed by Jonas Akerlund. Mystery Girl is another upcoming adaptation, with McG set as director and Tiffany Haddish attached to star.
