Former Supergirl star and queer icon Chyler Leigh has landed a leading role opposite Andie MacDowell in the upcoming Hallmark series titled The Way Home. The generational show is about three different women who make up the Landry family, and will use time-travel as a storytelling device.
Leigh is set to play Kat Landry, a newly divorced single mother who moves back to her small farm town of Port Haven after receiving a letter beckoning her return from her mother Del, played by MacDowell. Kat brings her 15 year-old daughter Alice along for the move, but the family reunion isn’t exactly how Kat had pictured it.
Leigh has already been a part of two long-running hit drama series. First, portraying Meredith’s younger half-sister Lexie Grey on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy for five seasons, then as Kara’s adoptive sister Alex for six seasons of Supergirl on The CW. She has also been a queer and mental health advocate, speaking openly about her own personal struggles during various interviews and conventions.
