GALECA, The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, announced their list of 2022 Dorian Award film nominations this week. The award ceremony recognizes the best in queer and queer-adjacent films, with this year’s list of nominees including such fan favorites as Tessa Thompson (Passing), Jennifer Coolidge, Kristen Stewart (Spencer), and Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick…Boom!).
The queer Western drama The Power of the Dog is in the lead with a total of nine nominations, including for best film, best LGBTQ film, and best director. Runners-up include Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story update, Netflix’s racial drama Passing, and the Disney animated film Encanto. Winners will be announced during a ceremony to be held on March 17th, 2022.
GALECA is comprised of over 350 journalists, broadcasters, and critics working for various media outlets in the United States and all over the world.
