The highly anticipated film Gunpowder Milkshake has reportedly found a new home at Netflix. The streaming platform has acquired the distribution rights, both U.S. and international, for the female-driven action film and has already given a sequel the green light. The film is slated to be released during the summer of 2021, however, no exact date has been announced as of yet.
The movie brings together a stunningly talented group of actresses, including Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Angela Bassett, Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh, and Chloe Coleman. Gunpowder Milkshake is said to focus on three generations of female assassins who fight to stop a vicious cycle of violence that has haunted them their entire lives. The film is comprised of scenes that are said to take place all over the course of one night.
Interestingly enough, the international rights also include a theatrical release of the film, with Netflix following in the footsteps of the hybrid release plan first initiated by HBO Max for Wonder Woman 1984 and, most recently, Mortal Kombat.
