Hot on the heels of the announcement of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival series, OG Scooby Gang member Charisma Carpenter has launched her own podcast about the series titled The Bitch is Back. Carpenter will host a watch along series that will feature her behind-the-scenes commentary as she watches episodes of the two series for the first time, as well as incorporate interviews with fellow cast and crew members along the way .
Carpenter was part of the Buffyverse for seven seasons, playing mean girl with an eventual heart of gold Cordelia Chase, the first three of Buffy and then she became the female lead of the spin-off Angel for four seasons (and one episode). Carpenter was removed from the show due to the much-reported bad behavior of series creator, Joss Whedon, during the fourth season. Her character was unceremoniously killed off in a one-off episode of the show’s final season, much to the dismay of Carpenter and the fandom alike.
However, there is hope that Carpenter could return as Cordelia in the future. Recently, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who will not only be reprising her role of Buffy Summers for the revival series but serve as an executive producer, stated that dead doesn’t necessarily mean gone in the Buffyverse. Speaking with Vanity Fair Italia, Gellar states,”My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.” Here’s to hoping that will apply to Queen C.
The Bitch is Back will be available in it’s entirety through Carpenter’s Patreon account, with a first episode preview featuring co-star Julie Benz available on YouTube.
